The Hellenic Photographic Society in Athens, Greece, has opened an exhibition to showcase aspects of ancient Iranian civilization.

Titled ‘Iran, Ancient Civilization’, the exhibition launched in collaboration with Iran’s Focus Photo Club on Saturday.

The weeklong program displays a collection of selected works by Iranian photographers.

The Hellenic Photographic Society selected a photo by Borna Mirahmadian as the best photo of the exhibition and presented the Gold Medal of the society and a free ticket to Greece to the photographer.

Some honorable mentions were also awarded to a number of other photos.

Participating at the opening ceremony, the representative of Iran’s branch of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), Ali Samei, delivered a short speech about Iran’s history of photography.

During the ceremony, he also introduced some of famous Iranian photographers, including Kaveh Golestan, Abbas Kiarostami, Reza Deqqati and Shadi Qadirian.

A collection of selected photos from the 4th edition of the Khayyam International Exhibition of Photography is also being showcased as a sideline program of the event.

‘Iran, Ancient Civilization’ is part of a cultural exchange that has been inked between Iran and Greece as two ancient civilizations.

An exhibition of photos by a number of Greek photographers will be held by the Focus Photo Club in cooperation of the Hellenic Photographic Society in Tehran in 2018.
